March, 8 is a traditional Women’s holiday in the countries of Eastern Europe. This holiday has a similar meaning as Mother’s Day in the USA.
International Women Day is celebrated on March, 8 and Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of every May, these holidays have different history and different origins but almost same meaning - this Day belongs to women!
Both nations consider this day as an official holiday and the customs of this day are very similar all over the world − but in North America this is mostly the holiday honoring all mothers. In Eastern Europe this is a day for all the women − mothers, daughters, sisters and friends. International Women’s Day is an official holiday in Ukraine and Russia. This holiday has been celebrated for many years in Soviet countries and it’s very important to congratulate your woman with this holiday.
